Calling all Timberlakers, It's time to pull out the paint rollers and grab a hammer. The Powells will be hosting lunch on the deck and lemon-aide in the Pirates Cove, while we do the annual prep and launch of the Hyperlaunch Model TWC.RH4-6.
Timberlake is supporting the future of water skiing by hosting the three-day overnight Eastern Region Junior Development camp in Sparta, VA. Up to 24 young skiers in the Boys and Girls 1 through 3 divisions are treated to top notch coaching in all three skiing events.
We are fortunate to have world class pro skier, Corey Vaughn heading up our Junior Development efforts. He finished last season by becoming only the ninth guy in the world to run 41 off. Corey himself has spent much time on the water at Timberlake. He enjoyed the benefits of participating in the Sparta Junior Development himself. He will be coaching and coordinating the coaching team for our clinic.
Information will be going out soon to previous participants, and open registration should start in early May. We are looking forward to hosting all the kids! More information can be found at www.vawaterski.org
Volunteers from around the VA water ski community team up and take over Timberlake, Lake Holly Lohr's Lake, Lake Maracossic and Jennings Pond for three days. Timberlakes own TG Powell is the volunteer coordinator and has put together an on-line sign up system for volunteers and parents who would like to offer their help with things like: transportation, food, chaperoning, coaching, driving, safety, etc. Take a look at the 2018 Junior Development on-line volunteer sign-up to see how you can help. Timberlake will be planning a couple clinics this summer for slalom skiers who are just learning the course or trying to up their bouy count through 22 off. Watch this space for more information.
The Tugoff is back for 2017! Pick two teammates, select a cool team name, and come on out for a great slalom tournament. This exciting format allows novice skiers compete in the same tournament as experienced and elite skiers. Whether you are a seasoned slalom competitor, or are just getting into the mini course, this tournament
is for you. A handicapping system makes it possible for any team to win if they ski their best. Everyone skis 2 rounds, and then the top three teams will participate in the final tugoff round. Awards are given for the top three teams, and for the best team name. Skiers can choose to ski in Class "F" Grass Roots, novice skiers or in Class "C" for Premier, competitive skiers. Registration and other information is available on the tournament page HERE.
